The language of beauty

Monday 22 May, 6.30pm-9pm, The Body Shop, Leeds

The power of language is transformational. how we speak, what we read, and listen to impacts our attitude and approach to beauty. for too long we have been pigeon-holed into believing beauty is only for the young. no more.

SEE IT, SAY IT, BELIEVE IT.

For decades we’ve been made to fear aging. Anti-age has been the term we’ve all been accustomed to seeing on our skincare and makeup but the tide is turning. We’re embracing getting older; our knowledge, experience and confidence as we enter the ‘Pro-age’ era.

Join us on launch day of This is Yorkshire Beauty Week for a fun evening hosted by The Body Shop in Leeds - one of the pioneers in challenging the language of beauty. Enjoy a private shopping experience, including sampling their new ranges, before we take our place for a lively discussion on the language of beauty and why change is essential.

Your ticket includes £15 redeemable against purchases on the night.

Our speakers

Rachel Peru: Rachel is a Silver haired curve model, body confidence advocate, midlife influencer and host of the Out of the Bubble podcast. Rachel has fully embraced her curves and her naturally grey hair.

She is passionate about showing other women, particularly those in midlife, that they are not invisible. Rachel broke barriers when she appeared in a ground-breaking Swimsuits for All campaign with Ashley Graham, and her career was launched from there.

Claire Lowson: Claire is an Innovator, Coach and Consultant, passionate about rebranding age. Founder of Supermenopause, she believes women are lucky to have this life-lever to take stock of 'what next'?
Claire designed and delivered EnergyLab for Lloyds TSB, took RBS’s Non-Core bank from being the most toxic place to work to the most aspirational, and currently leads the Age-Positive consulting team at Leeds strategic agency, Propaganda.

“This word ‘anti-aging’ has to be struck. I am pro-aging, I want to age with intelligence and grace and dignity and verve and energy.”
